| Lakeview Generating Station in Mississauga was finally demolished last week, although for a while I wasn’t sure it was actually going to happen. The top three photos are from the mornings of June 25, 26 and 28, all of which I spent camped out across a bay from the coal-fired power plant, waiting for the demo. Finally on June 28, about 4 hours after the planned time, the plant came down 2 minutes before I was about to give up on waiting. The white specks in the last photo are seagulls that were hanging out nearby. Somehow the cynic in me is expecting the provincial government to announce a new gas or nuclear power plant for the same location. After the fall election, of course. |
